I shared my joy as my “challenged” teenage son successfully reached yet another milestone along his journey to recovery. The response was overwhelming. Behind the scenes I received private messages from other parents who shared my fears and anxieties for their teenage children struggling to reintegrate and belong!!
Youths that have fallen between the cracks. Youths who are independent yet left challenged from the trauma of an illness; an incident or a condition.
In an effort to circulate support for such youths and their parents I have created a Facebook page together with my son Jacob. We have named it Youths with Challenges – Stepping Stones ……
** The first step will be to connect the dots by finding each other
** The second step will be to create a ‘buddy’ like system to support and encourage youths to face their challenges to take the next step forward.
** The third step would be to create a social circle in the real world organising activities and group outings.
Both parents and challenged youths between the ages of 16 to 25 are invited to like our Facebook page where we will keep you updated as to how we plan to take the next step forward 🙂
