Upon being told that I have won the prestigious Commonwealth Point of Light Award I was requested to submit a photo of myself for them to use in their press release.
Immediately this photo came to mind even though it isn’t a photo of just me, it is one of my favourites kindly taken by Mark Zammit Cordina for Pink magazine a few months ago with the driving force by my side, my son Jacob. He has been and will always be the wind beneath my wings …
I was also asked by the British High Commission to write a ‘few’ lines (obviously they don’t know me enough lol 😁😁) to quote my feelings about winning the award for their press release next Wednesday when they will be coming to the shop to present me with my certificate signed by the Queen herself!
I will leave what I have submitted here in honour of and dedicated to all of YOU who have taken the time to read it. I would also want to thank the amazing people that I have mentioned below … people who have inspired me … who have helped me achieve my goals …. who have believed in my son and ultimately helped my family realise his dream Jacob’s Brew – Pay It Forward … those who have egged me on in all that I do and have touched my life in one way or another.
Believe me if there was a magic button that could tag all who bother to LIKE, SHARE and COMMENT on Facebook whenever I have something significant to say then I would surely use it!!! THANK YOU with all my ❤ Together YOU have all made a difference not just in my life, but in the lives of many!!
“I am truly overwhelmed and grateful for winning this award, not so much for myself, but in recognition of my family’s dedication and the amazing people who have crossed our paths along our journey that have supported us throughout always believing in what we do. I have made it my mission to put right what was missing when my own family faced our trauma 5 years ago. I was once told that everything happens for a reason. When we survived our ordeal I was determined to make that reason.
All that I do hasn’t come without personal and financial sacrifice and there have been times when I have felt like giving up, but receiving this award not only gives credibility to our NGO Survivors Malta as an organisation. It is also a reminder to myself that I am on the right track and will continue to pursue to initiate
future projects to help families facing trauma”
